Sunset Park and Bay Ridge are just two of South Brooklyn’s bustling and bright neighborhoods, whose residents have roots all over the world. If we listed every amazing place in this corner of Southwest Brooklyn, we’d be here forever.

If you’re new here, you may not know how easy it is to ride a Citi Bike to get around, due to Citi Bike’s most recent South Brooklyn expansion. Here are TA’s top five favorite places to check out in Sunset Park and Bay Ridge — selected by TA’s Events and Partnerships Coordinator Sam, a lifelong resident and fan of Southwest Brooklyn.

The South Brooklyn NYC Ferry Route begins at American Veterans Memorial Pier, taking ferry riders to Sunset Park, Red Hook, and Brooklyn Bridge Park before making its way to Wall Street and Corlear’s Hook. Currently, TA Staten Island and South Brooklyn Organizer Rose Uscianowski is campaigning for a fast ferry route from American Veterans Memorial Pier to St. George Ferry Terminal in Staten Island. With a Citi Bike dock located at 67th and Ridge Boulevard, the possibilities are endless for a fun day on the water, traveling to your next adventure.

Just a quick walk from the 60th Street and 6th Avenue Citi Bike dock, 99 Favor Taste is a local favorite, where you and fellow Citi Bike riders can enjoy Chinese Hot Pot, Korean BBQ or both! With six broths to choose from, all of your friends will find something they like, including your vegetarian friends.

While the Fifth Avenue Open Street operates throughout the summer, all seasons are a good time to explore the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean eateries that adorn Fifth Avenue. Dock your bike at 67th Street and 5th Avenue, and see all Fifth Avenue has to offer before settling down for coffee and taking some honey to go from Asal Yemen.

Grab your friends and ride your Citi Bikes to Sunset Park’s very own Melody Lanes, located one block from the 37th Street and 5th Avenue Citi Bike dock. Melody Lanes has been a South Brooklyn staple since the 1960s for friends and families to get together and bowl. Whether you’re a first-time bowler or in a league of your own, bowling is the perfect activity for cold or rainy weather.
